What path will you take?

Hunger and thirst after the wisdom of the Lord!

I watched a video presentation about how countries in the world rise and fall intellectually.  It was very interesting.  Ultimately, the researchers determined that each "group's" level of understanding and knowledge was directly related to how much they were able to communicate outside of their own tribe or culture.  For example, communities that were isolated by their location (i.e. remote island) and limited opportunities to communication were left with lower levels of what I call a broad 'thinking skill' that is vital to ones survival and future success of society and hence following generations.  The data was astounding with cool graphs and if you tend toward the nerdy side....let me know and I'll hook you up.

I also remember a sign in my 7th grade class that said, "Knowledge is Power" and another one that said, "A Mind is a Terrible thing to waste."  For a young teen.....it was burned into my mind that I needed to become proactive and seek to understand.....no one else could do that part for me.  It was a gift that I HAD to give myself.

The entire book of Proverb is about gaining wisdom.

I guide you in the was of wisdom

and lead you along straight paths.

Proverbs 4:11 

I know, I know, I know, so many people don't want a straight path.........because it seems all stuffy and boring!  But that's just a concept in their minds!!  Challenge yourself to see if is really true!!   ..... plus, if you need a little push in that direction to get your wheels unstuck....I'm dying to help!!!!! 

I'm reminded of a scripture that says...........My people parish for lack of knowledge

The opposite of this is found in isolation.  When we begin to isolate ourselves from God, friends, family, communication and the world....we shrink into ourselves and literally shrivel up.  It's easy to see how anyone would enjoy the peace and security of a warm coat of isolation.  Just like all other spiritual laws of the kingdom.  At first many things seem good and desirable but in excess it will destroy you and your potential in the kingdom.  I get this picture here of wrapping something alive up to be nice and warm but failing to allow for fresh air....then in time.......the oxygen is gone and death takes it's place.  Wondering if the fresh air is communication....  this is that point that I laugh and hear, etc.etc.etc. from "The King and I".....I even love Jodie Foster's version of the movie but I think they changed the name up a little~~~anyway it's the same great story.

How much TV do you watch?  Oops, I realize that I can be steeping on toes here.  Are you saying, "Back off my TV?  No one can touch my remote control." Have you ever considered that it can be a form of isolation?

Do you think it limits your ability to live YOUR life rather than be entertained by watching others live their lives.   Please don't get me wrong........I don't think it's evil by any stretch.  But remember that it has an 'off' button and you have the power to choose which programs you allow into your world.  Are those choices a good influence on you and your family?  Remember, so much of what kids learn at home is from the television....how sad.  We have an important assignment with our children and to our country and world to communicate with your family........speak words of blessing and honest correction.........discuss your thoughts and dreams.............and deeply listen to others share their thoughts and dreams with you.  YOU have the power to make a difference today that will change the future.  IT'S WORTH THE EFFORT.  If you're not sure, what does it hurt to try it?
